Join YAB
The Youth Advocacy Board is a countywide community of like-minded interns interested in mental health advocacy, hosted by YouthWell in partnership with SB County Behavioral Wellness. Students advocate on their school campuses, communities, and beyond; learn about mental health, leadership, and other skills; and get opportunities to learn about and participate in social media advocacy, fundraising, workshop creation, and more!

Use this resource if you are looking for something short term to fulfill hours requirements, or for long term volunteering to develop new skills, find new passions, or tap into existing ones.
Workshops and Trainings
FIND WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS>>
Free virtual Wellness Workshops on a variety of topics for students (ages 10-25), parents, and those working with youth. Participants learn tools and tips for managing their mental wellness and practicing self-care in order to build resilience so they are better equipped to cope with stress and challenging situations. Spanish interpretation is provided.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a comprehensive training and certification specifically designed to equip educators, family members, and caregivers (18 years or older) with the skills and knowledge to identify, understand, and respond to the signs or risk factors of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. Free classes offered virtually and in-person. Teen Mental Health First Aid is a training and certification for students in grades 10th-12th. QPR [Question, Persuade, and Refer] is a suicide prevention training.
Support Groups and Resources
YouthWell facilitates support groups for parents, teachers, and teens in SB County. They will be hosted at YouthWell's office, Open Minds, or the SBCC Extended Learning Wake Center. All parent and teacher groups have Zoom options.
