OUR PROGRAMS & SERVICES...

We understand that our collective healing and liberation is essential to creating a more equitable Santa Barbara, therefore we center, uplift, and meaningfully create space that empowers ALL Black people including; Black LGBTQ+ people, Black people with disabilities, undocumented Black people, underserved Black people and Black people that speak in African American Vernacular English. In keeping with the principles of a healing justice framework, we demand that self-care be reimagined as collective investment in community care.

We currently offer:

-Community Gatherings and Events

  • Past Events: Family Cookouts, Fundraisers, Conferences, and more!

-Black Student Alliance (BSA)

  • The Black Student Alliance (BSA) is a dynamic mentorship program designed to empower Black-identifying high school students by providing a platform for self-expression, visibility, and advocacy. The BSA engages in School campus visits, college visits, and community building activities.

-Historical Preservation and Black Media

  • We, Healing Justice Santa Barbara, are committed to gathering and archiving a visual and responsive history of Black people in the Central Coast. Join us in amplifying voices and fostering meaningful change.

-Mutual Aid: Emergency Needs Fund

  • By providing immediate financial support within Santa Barbara's black community, we help alleviate the strain on those facing unexpected crises, ensuring they can maintain stability and access critical resources.

Additionally, Kindred Collective (formally The Healing Space) offers a UCSB-based training clinic and community healing space focused on African, Indigenous, and Liberation centered psychologies. The collective brings together students, faculty, and community members to create spaces for collective care, reflection, and healing across diverse communities.
