DESCRIPTION:Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD) invites the community to a Día de los Muertos celebration\, 1-6 p.m. Sunday\, Nov. 2 at Lompoc High School\, 515 W. College Ave \nThis annual event will feature altars\, student altars\, live entertainment\, face painting\, a Catrina contest\, arts and crafts\, Pan de Muerto with hot chocolate\, and food booths. \nInformation tables and community partners will be on hand as well\, making the family-friendly event one that blends tradition\, culture\, and education\, according to LUSD. \nThis event is not just about attending\, it’s about participating\, LUSD said. \nAttendees are encouraged to sign up to host an altar; provide an informational table with art activities for the children; or take part in one of the event’s contests and activities. \n“Día de los Muertos is about remembrance\, love\, and celebration of life\,” said Assistant Superintendent Brian Jaramillo. “We are excited to open this event to our entire community\, from students creating their first altar to families who have celebrated this tradition for generations.” \nDeadline to sign up is Oct. 17.
