DESCRIPTION:QPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer—three simple steps anyone can learn. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis. Participants will learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide\, how to offer hope\, and how to get help and save a life. \nAnyone in the community can take the course\, including parents\, friends\, neighbors\, teachers\, clergy\, medical professionals\, first responders\, caseworkers\, organizations\, schools\, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. \nQPR is based on a curriculum provided by the QPR Institute. DESCRIPTION:The City of Goleta is partnering with the Santa Barbara Unified School District to offer a free summer lunch program at Jonny D. Wallis Neighborhood Park to any child under the age of 18. The program will provide a healthy and convenient boxed lunch to any child who shows up\, with no need to register or pre-enroll. The only requirement is that the lunch be eaten on site. \nThis program provides a critical bridge to children who depend on school lunches throughout the year to meet their nutritional and caloric needs. Kids and families can come enjoy the activities at the park including playground\, skate park\, basketball\, pickleball\, and Bankshot courts\, as well as the multi-purpose sports fields and bike path\, and then be able to take advantage of a free healthy and nutritious lunch. \nWHEN: Monday\, June 16th through Friday\, August 8th\nTIME: Lunch will be served from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM\, Monday through Friday\nWHERE: Jonny D. Our 2025 Summer Camp is set to run July 7th-August 1st at Elings Park.  \nYour support helps further PeerBuddies’ mission of inclusivity for all! \nDonations of:  \n$50 Covers two camper’s snacks\n$200 Covers one week for a Peer Buddy’s enrollment!\n$500 Covers one week for Camper’s enrollment!\n$4\,800 Covers our venue fee at Elings Park! \nDonations of any amount will make a huge difference\, have a lasting impact\, and are greatly appreciated! SUMMARY:VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: PeerBuddies Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:PeerBuddies provides ABA based social skills intervention for individuals with social difficulties by pairing them with same aged Peer Buddy volunteers to create an inclusive space for learning essential social skills. Some examples of social goals and skills are compromising\, asking before doing\, active listening\, sharing\, coping with frustration\, self-advocacy\, and more! \nAt camp\, we will have a wide variety of fun activities\, including: \n\nArts & Crafts\nSlip N Slides and Water Balloons\nFace Painting\nBoard games\nOutdoor activities (obstacle courses & team-building activities)\n\n…all while learning and working collaboratively with other children! \nVolunteers\, aka Peer Buddies\, will get to enjoy fun activities\, learn meaningful skills\, earn up to 60 Community Service Hours\, and make a huge impact in another person’s life! \nInterested in becoming a buddy?
