SUMMARY:VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: PeerBuddies Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:PeerBuddies provides ABA based social skills intervention for individuals with social difficulties by pairing them with same aged Peer Buddy volunteers to create an inclusive space for learning essential social skills. Some examples of social goals and skills are compromising\, asking before doing\, active listening\, sharing\, coping with frustration\, self-advocacy\, and more! \nAt camp\, we will have a wide variety of fun activities\, including: \n\nArts & Crafts\nSlip N Slides and Water Balloons\nFace Painting\nBoard games\nOutdoor activities (obstacle courses & team-building activities)\n\n…all while learning and working collaboratively with other children! \nVolunteers\, aka Peer Buddies\, will get to enjoy fun activities\, learn meaningful skills\, earn up to 60 Community Service Hours\, and make a huge impact in another person’s life! \nInterested in becoming a buddy? SUMMARY:Nature Group Therapy Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:A weekly therapy group for pre-teens to meet\, process\, and explore in nature together. This group is unique and tailored to the participant’s individual needs and qualities they bring to the group. Participants will gain embodied understanding of their nervous system\, how to support others\, and how to form a reciprocal relationship with nature that fosters life-long support and connection for overall wellbeing. Through exploration\, experimentation\, teamwork\, nature activities\, and mindfulness\, participants will build confidence\, foster resilience\, and experience agency. \nIndividuals who benefit from joining may be neurodivergent\, highly sensitive\, experience low self-esteem\, anxiety\, or depression\, or needs more breaks from screens. In addition\, those who experience eco-anxiety and eco-grief will have a tangible opportunity to make a positive environmental change as we collaborate with Channel Islands Restoration to give back to the land. This is a great group to compliment individual therapy\, or for those who are not interested in traditional therapy options; as well as for any pre-teens nervous about starting Jr High in the Fall.
